Martin County Schools welcomes the district’s newest school administrator.
Tunmorya Bennett has joined Martin County Schools as the incoming principal at E.J. Hayes Elementary School.
Most recently, Bennett served as an assistant principal at John Small and S.W. Snowden Elementary Schools in Beaufort County and as an MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) Coordinator at S.W. Snowden Elementary School.
“We are delighted to welcome Ms. Bennett to our team. She brings a strong understanding of utilizing data to drive growth and a varied background of experiences that will greatly benefit our students,” explained Dr. White.
Bennett began her education career as a pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade teacher in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She moved to North Carolina in 2009 and served Arapahoe Charter School and Pamlico County Schools before moving to Beaufort County Schools.
Bennett is licensed in Elementary Education (K-6) and School Administration and was recognized as a North Carolina Principal Exceeding Growth for 2019. She was the Teacher of the Year for Pamlico County Schools for the 2015-2016 school year.
