Mrs. Chawla’s 4th grade students explored the Transcontinental Railroad during their ELA lesson on comparing and contrasting. They began by pulling out U.S. maps to trace the railroad’s path, identify who was responsible for building it, and understand why it was constructed. To boost comprehension, students hunted for transition words in the text and used them to compare key ideas. Throughout the lesson, they confidently shared their thinking and supported their responses with evidence. The blend of geography and literacy made learning engaging and meaningful for all!
