WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS

These are the weekly announcements for October 15, 2023:

Congratulations to our tennis team on a fantastic showing at the conference tournament on Thursday, October 12! Miley Harrington and Reagan Cowan were the 1st place winners and Kylie Stone and Whitney Stevens were the 3rd place winners in doubles at the conference tournament.  In the singles category, Micah Baughn and Heaven Willoughby placed 2nd and 3rd!  Miley, Reagan, and Micah move on to the regional tournament in Snow Hill this week!  Great job ladies!

  • The PreACT will be given to 10th graders on Tuesday, October 17. Please get a good night's sleep and come to school on time Tuesday.

  • Senior Fees are $90 & are payable to Mrs. Hoggard each day by 1:00 p.m. No money will be accepted after 1:00. This covers the cost of the cap & gown unit & other costs of graduation. Fees will increase to $95 on November 1st.

  • If you are interested in taking the ASVAB, please come see Mrs. Stanton in Student Services to sign up.  ASVAB will be administered on Tuesday, October 24th beginning at 8:00AM at South Creek.

  • Summer trip to the Dominican Republic, interest meeting October 24th @ 6:00pm at RHS media center. Come join Ms. Joyner to hear all the exciting details!!!!  Parents are welcome to attend and even join us on this Summer trip.

  • FCCLA is having a Krispy Kreme BOGO card fundraiser, to raise money for state competition in Greensboro N.C. Please help support the Riverside High School chapter! 

  • The North Carolina Governor's School is a four-week summer residential program for gifted and talented high school students. Learning focuses on the exploration of the most recent ideas and concepts in academic disciplines, world languages, and the arts. More information can be found here.   •  Mr. Smith has started Spring MCC Registration for all Non-Early College students. Students can send him an email or stop by his office to schedule MCC classes. 


  • Students are reminded that bus transportation is a privilege not a right. Please make sure you follow the bus drivers rules when riding a bus.  
  • Reminder, when you enter the building in the morning, grab your breakfast and go directly to your 1st period class. You should not wander the halls or go to other classrooms to hang out.
  • The weather has changed, but the dress code policy remains the same. Headwear and blankets are not allowed in the building.  
  •  There is an educational abroad trip opportunity to Belize for RHS students. The trip will take place in the Spring of 2025. There will be a virtual meeting on Oct. 24 at 5:30 pm. Ms. Amy Barsanti can be reached at (252) 217-5535 for more details.  
  •  Student parking passes are on sale for $20. If you park on campus, purchase a pass before November 1st.  
  • SENIORS: College Foundation of NC Free College Application Week is this week. 

 Friday, October 20 is an early release day!!  

  • There will be a Title 1 parent/student meeting on Friday, October 20 at 5:30 pm in the media center. All are invited to attend.
