MCS Career & Technical Education students participated in their first SkillsUSA regional competition on Friday, February 28th, against statewide representation, including high school and community college participants. "SkillsUSA is the #1 workforce development organization for students. We empower students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders and responsible citizens".

Kayla Smith brought home 5th place in Photography. Jazmyne Staton and Bianca Hernandez worked hard in CPR and earned a 3rd place medal. Terrance Whitley also earned a 3rd place medal with a cool T-shirt design. Jamil Morris qualified for the States by earning 1st place in Digital Animation and Software Design, and Lyrah Bakinowski worked through the Adobe program and earned second place in runner-up honors.

The Crime Scene Investigation Team, consisting of Lonnie Lee, Kenleigh Hardison, and Jalyn Raynor earned a 1st place finish and State comp birth working against more veteran teams. This regional championship was the capstone of a very successful day by all MCS CTE participants. Hats off to these students who took extra time from their busy schedules to work after school and on weekends to represent themselves, their families, teachers, program advisors, and school in the most professional fashion.
