Martin County Schools is looking for your feedback related to the 2020-21 school calendar. Things to consider:
Ā· The draft calendar is called a Year Round Calendar, but it does not function like a Year Round School.
Ā· The draft calendar start date for students is August 10th and the end date is May 28th.
Ā· The draft calendar provides for High School students to complete 1st semester exams before Christmas break.
Ā· The draft calendar helps to better align Martin County Schoolsā academic calendar with Martin Community Collegeās academic calendar.
Ā· The draft calendar provides 3 full weeks off during the Christmas break for students and professional development days for staff.
Ā· The draft calendar provides Martin County Schools with 11 weeks during the summer to offer a variety of programs to our students such as academic remediation, academic enrichment, summer camps, and school transition programs. The traditional calendar would provide 10 weeks.
Ā· The draft calendar provides the same parent teacher conferences, holidays, and breaks throughout the year to our students and staff that the traditional calendar has provided.
Ā· The draft calendar does require students and staff to start school 2 weeks earlier for this year.
Ā· All schools would operate on the same calendar.
