Workouts have begun for Martin County High School’s Cross Country team, and this year - a new coach is leading the pack.
Jaye Weeks-Hughes, who, before her retirement, taught English at South Creek High School, grabbed the baton and will be coaching the team this fall.
Weeks-Hughes has coached a variety of high school and recreational sports, including volleyball, tennis, softball, cheerleading, and even t-ball.
She added, “I look forward to being a part of Martin County High School’s athletic program as we build many seasons of success.”
Asim McGill, MCS Athletic Director, weighed in on coaching selection.
“We are very fortunate to have someone like Coach Weeks-Hughes come out of retirement to make our students a priority, just like she has done throughout her career. She brings a strong understanding of high school athletics and our students. I am confident she will motivate and encourage our athletes.”
