Bennett to Lead MCS Technology Team
Amy Bennett returns to Martin County Schools as the district’s Director of Technology.
Since her time as a physical education and STEM teacher in the South Creek District, Bennett has developed her resume in the field of Instructional Technology.
Bennett comes to the district from a position with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, serving as the Northeast Region’s Digital Teaching and Learning Consultant.
In this role, she has provided training and assistance with the implementation of digital learning to enhance engagement throughout the state.
She is an experienced trainer in many areas, including Google Workspace, robotics, and computer science.
Prior to her time with NCDPI, Bennett worked for Beaufort County Schools in various positions, which included Instructional Design Specialist and later Director of Instructional Technology.
“We are so excited to bring someone with Amy Bennett’s experience to Martin County Schools,” said Dr. Michelle White, Superintendent.
“I believe she will guide us in bringing cutting-edge technology to the children and staff of Martin County Schools.”
“Having seen learning firsthand from the classroom to district, state, and national levels, she brings a wealth of knowledge to guide our teachers in high-quality instruction as well as securing and maintaining the technology to support it,” White added.
Bennett holds a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from East Carolina University with a special endorsement in Computer Science.
Bennett is a Google Certified Trainer, an Apple Certified Teacher, Sphero Lead Education and received the 2018 Outstanding K-8 Educator Award from the North Carolina Science, Math, and Technology Center.
In this role, Bennett will oversee the MCS Technology Team and work directly with the MCS Curriculum and Career Technical Education teams.
