Administrative Changes Announced for the 2024-2025 School Year
As the current school year draws to a close, district leaders have announced administrative changes for the 2024-2025 school year. These changes aim to maximize our educators' unique skills and experiences.
Brandon Howard, the current principal of Williamston Primary School, will transition to the same position at South Creek Middle School.
“Mr. Howard has spent most of his career serving older students, specifically middle and high school,” explained Dr. Michelle White, Superintendent of Martin County Schools.
“Based on his educational background and previous school-level experience, I believe Mr. Howard has the skillset needed to help South Creek Middle School excel.”
Mr. Howard has 15 years of experience in education. In addition to his Principal License, he is licensed in 9-12 Social Studies and 9-12 History.
Leigh Ann Hudson, the district’s Assistant Director of Exceptional Children, will assume the principal role at Williamston Primary School. After more than a decade teaching high school Science, Hudson served the district as an Assistant Principal Intern at Rodgers Elementary School for the 2017-2018 school year and two and a half years as Assistant Principal.
Before her current position, Hudson led the district’s MTSS or Multi-Tiered System of Supports Director, guiding educators on academic and behavioral strategies for students with various needs.
“Mrs. Hudson’s venture in leadership began at the elementary level and we are excited to see her bring her skills back to this arena,” White said. “Her in-depth work with elementary instructional best practice, as well as her passion for children will benefit the students and staff of Williamston Primary School.”
Along with her principal license, Hudson holds licenses in 9-12 and middle school science.
Michelle Mobley, principal of Jamesville Elementary School, will retire at the end of this school year.
Spencer Pake, the current principal at South Creek Middle School, will take the reigns at Jamesville Elementary School following Mobley’s retirement.
“This move will take Mr. Pake back to elementary school, where his greatest educational experience occurred,” White explained. “Some of his greatest strengths are apparent in his relationships. Mr. Pake has an obvious gift for empowering both students and staff. Combine that with his strong elementary background, we have a winning combination for Jamesville Elementary School’s future.”
Pake was an elementary teacher from 2003 to 2008. He then moved into administration, serving as assistant principal or principal at Chocowinity Primary, Bath Elementary, and Eastern Elementary Schools in Beaufort County. He also served as instructional services coordinator, working extensively on testing and accountability before joining Martin County Schools in 2023.
“Change is never easy; however, it’s often the best thing to facilitate growth,” White explained. When our people work in their strengths, students and teachers will benefit, and that is what it is all about.”
